BC CRA Regional Trade Show Recap

The National Event Supply trade show team just got back from BC where we were exhibiting at the CRA BC Regional show which took place at the Cloverdale Rodeo Show Barn. The show took place over two days running from 4pm to 9pm on Friday and from 10am to 3pm on Saturday. We had a substantially larger booth than last year which took Jonathan, Tony and myself a good part of the day to get set up. This year the show had a section of the hall set aside exclusively for the Party and Event side of the rental business, a rare occurrence for a regional show like this.

In the Party and Events section, Impact Canopies showed off their Sky Flags and Branded pop-up tents, LB White and Patron Heaters had a section dedicated to tent heaters, Wacker Nueson displayed one of their Generators and AE Sales had their Granite Industries Staging Solution. We rounded out the Party and Event section with a large display including our porcelain dinnerware, cutlery, glassware, chiavari chairs, black and white resin folding chairs, bistro chairs, and of course our always popular plastic folding tables, wood folding tables, and plastic folding chairs. With the expanded booth we were able to show most of our lines of porcelain including our always popular Quadrato Square dishes, our Ovali dish line and our new Polar White dinnerware line. We were also able to show a number of new items including several sizes of wing bowls, sloped bowls, and cappuccino cups. Based on the feedback we received, many of the attendees were pleased with our wide range of rental ready products.

As part of our show promotion, we gave away a NES Reliable Tall Plastic Folding Cocktail table to all the attendees that brought us one of the post cards we had mailed out in advance of the show. You could tell many were extremely pleased to be able to get a free NES Reliable Tall Plastic Folding Cocktail Table and take it home with them right from our booth.

After the show we headed back to the Coast Hotel and Cascades Casino for an evening of fun and festivities. The hotel put on a fabulous buffet spread including some of the best Roast Beef I have had in quite some time. Jim Clipperton of Nor-Val Rentals was our MC for the night and the food was so good it got an applause from the crowd. After dinner we were entertained by a comedian (Roman) who was very funny. As you can see from the picture to the right, Roman brought up Cat Bischke of Cardinal Rentals and did a bite where Cat is pretending her hands are Romans’. As you can tell from the picture she is being a good sport and laughing along with the crowd at their combined antics.

After dinner there were a few brief speeches from Jeff Campbell who is the incoming CRA National President (of St. Thomas Rent-All) and Paul Kenyon, the ARA Region 10 representative (Absolute Tent and Event Rentals). As always the BC Regional CRA put together a fantastic event that is always great to be a part of. We look forward to seeing many of them at the show next year as well as at The Rental Show in Las Vegas in February.

 

We’re back in Vancouver in less than 2 weeks for the BC Foodservice Expo which will be taking place at the Vancouver Convention Centre. But before we head back west, we’re doing the CRA Ontario Tabletop Show which takes place January 19, 2013 at the Nottawasaga Resort in Alliston, Ontario. We are looking forward to seeing our Ontario Rental customers and relaxing with a beer after the show.

New Catalogue for the Trade Show Season!

When we put together our Table and Chair Catalogue it was a huge undertaking. We spent the better part of 2011 taking pictures of all of our products and cleaning up the pictures for publication. We wrote copy for the catalogue, describing our outstanding products, and providing reasons for you, the customer, to purchase our fine wares. We learned a lot of software, and spent time looking for companies to print our first stab at a catalogue. When the catalogue came out we were thrilled. We finally had something we could put into the hands of customers and potential customers.

And then, shortly after we received the catalogues, they started going out of date. We started adding to our product lines, expanding our offerings. There were new folding chairs, new folding tables, new chair carts, and new dollies. We had expanded our product lines, offering chairs in new colours. There were new cushions for our resin chiavari chairs, and a blow-mold stacking chair too.

Table and Chairs CatalogueLuckily, in mid 2012, Stephanie joined our team and we put her to work revising our table and chair catalogue. She added the new products we already had in our warehouse and included products that we were expecting for spring 2013. Stephanie worked hard on the 2013 Table and Chair catalogue, and now I'm pleased to announce that the 2013 Table and Chair Catalogue is available!

This 28 page catalogue contains all the products that we are offering in our Toronto, Vancouver, and Indianapolis Warehouses. It includes all of our plastic folding tables, our wood folding tables, our plastic folding cocktail tables, and our wood cruiser tables. You'll find information about our Plastic Folding Chairs, learn about our resin chiavari chairs, and be the first to see our NEW Folding Pedestal Tables.

Now that the 2013 Table and Chair Catalogue is complete, Stephanie has begun working on putting together our 2013 Tabletop Catalogue and hopes to have it finished shortly. She is also putting together a 2013 French Catalogue which we hope will be later this spring. As I previously mentioned, we're absolutely thrilled when a container of new products arrives at our door. On Monday we received a container of porcelain which included our new Polar White Line. We've take a good look at all the pieces in the line and we have to say that we're absolutely thrilled with the quality of porcelain that the factory has provided us. Our new Polar White Line is sure to be a big hit. If you're curious about it, please let us know and we'll see if we can get you a sample.

NES Reliable Folding Pedestal Table

We didn't just receive our new Polar White line of dinnerware on our most recent container. We also received a large order of our larger rectangular platters. We're happy to say that we've got all of our rectangular serving platters back in stock prior to the busy season. These porcelain platters come in numerous sizes and are perfect for everything from serving a turkey to individual use as a plate.

We just received word that a couple of containers that we've been waiting for are finally on their way. In the first container which is expected by the end of January, we have our new NES Reliable Folding Pedestal Table. They are just as strong as our regular NES Reliable High Plastic Folding Cocktail Tables, but instead of a scissor type leg, they have a pedestal design. This innovative design allows for the use of standard spandex cruiser tablecloths and allows for some incredibly innovative designs. With the NES Reliable Folding Pedestal Table, you can install a led light (not included) in the centre column area and wow your customers. And unlike traditional pedestal table, the NES Reliable Folding Pedestal Tables are one piece. You will no longer need to worry about missing bases, poles, or table tops! NES Reliable Folding Pedestal Tables will be available at the end of January 2013 and will have an introductory price of $89.95/ea.

 

Royal Blue on Grey Plastic Folding Chairs

Another product which we will be stocking in Q1 of 2013 is the Royal Blue on Grey NES Reliable Plastic Folding Chairs. This particular colour combination has been a special order item for the past few years, but will be a stocking colour near the end of February. With the addition of Royal Blue on Grey, we will be stocking 8 different colour combinations: white on white, black on black, grey on grey, tan on tan, brown on tan, burgundy on grey, and slate blue on grey. Looking forward to Q2 of 2013, we hope to add Black on Grey plastic folding chairs to our stocking line-up.

National Event Supply in Indianapolis!

Indianapolis SkylineI thought it would be a good idea to give you an update on the folding tables and chairs we have available from our Indianapolis based warehouse. We’ve been working with the Douglass Group for almost 2 years and together we’re building our customer base throughout the US Midwest. The Douglass Group, which consists of Dick, Wade and Ty Douglass along with Mike Bowling, provide direct sales support throughout Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia and of course Indiana.

From our warehouse in Indianapolis our Customers have the ability to pick-up on the same day, when they have an urgent requirement, or we can ship (usually in 24 to 36 hours) with one of our economical shipping partners.

Where is the warehouse located?

We are warehousing our product with our strategic partner Merchandise Warehouse who have in excess of 300,000 square feet of warehouse in Indianapolis. From this location we can obtain very economical shipping to Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit, Milwaukee and of course all other shipping points throughout the US.

Merchandise Warehouse is located less than a mile just south of I70 with easy on off access and about 2 miles west of Interstate 65.

Over the past 2 years we have developed relationships with national carriers for shipping and we’ll be able to provide you with cost effective shipping options.

Can I pick-up at the Warehouse?

Absolutely, we just need 24 hours’ notice so we can have the warehouse pull your order and get it ready for pick-up the next day in the afternoon. For larger orders, we’ll need to know the type of vehicle you’re picking up with so we can either have the skid of tables/chairs shrink wrapped or ready for hand loading. Rush pick-ups can also be accommodated but hopefully your customers aren’t always making their changes at the last minute.

Ringing in the New Year!

2013 CalendarWell, we're back. The staff of National Event Supply are back from their Christmas Vacations and are feeling recharged and ready to start the New Year off with a bang. Projects that have been months in the making are quickly coming to an end. We have a new catalogue with all of our new products in the final phases and (almost) ready to print. The website is being dramatically revamped (again) with an eye towards the mobile web, and improved useability. New business cards have arrived and our new calendars are up and keeping the big dates in our minds.

Spring Buying

Winter has just begun, but it's time to start planning for Spring Purchases. At National Event Supply, we pride ourselves on being a stocking warehouse. We always try to keep things in stock so that if you need 50 folding tables shipped to you immediately, we can ship you 50 tables. We want you to be able to call us up and order a dozen plates (or 100 dozen plates) secure in the knowledge that we'll have them. Of course, sometimes we misjudge our stock levels, and run out of things like folding cocktail tables and white resin folding chairs. That's why we encourage people to let us know what they are interested in fairly early so we can order items accordingly. If you're interested in plastic folding tables for April, let us know now and we can put together a quote for you. Even if you don't want/need the folding tables until later in the spring, we'd like to know about it early enough so we can work to make sure we don't run out of the tables before you purchase yours.

Custom Orders

Now is also the time to inquire about custom orders. Custom orders typically take 90-120 days for manufacturing and shipping to our warehouse. If you're looking for a piece of custom dinnerware, or a particular colour of Chiavari Chair Cushion, now is the time to contact one of our sales reps and let them know what you're interested in.

Trade Shows

January, February, and March are also filled with trade shows. The National Event Supply trade show team will be doing a trade show on each of the last three weekends of January. On January 11 and 12, the trade show team will be in Surrey, BC for the BC CRA Regional Trade Show. On January 19, Dennis and the trade show team will be in Alliston for the CRA Ontario Tabletop Show. The trade show team ends the month back in BC at the BC Foodservice Expo on January 27 and 28. Dennis and the trade show team then get a couple of weeks to catch their breath before they head on down to Las Vegas for The Rental Show.
