Now Arriving... Porcelain Dinnerware, Platters, and Bowls

Happy Belated Father's Day to all you dads out there. I don't know about you, but I spent Father's day in a restaurant in the company of friends as my family is scattered all over the country. The restaurant we were at was following a trend which we've noticed at National Event Supply: Rectangular Dinner Plates. A 7"x14" Platter makes the perfect plate for a burger or sandwich and fries. This is a trend that we can see continuing for quite a while.

A0957 PlatterOur Rectangular 7"x14" platters are just one of the items that are back in stock as of this morning when our shipping team unloaded our container of porcelain. This is one of the more difficult containers for our shipping team as there are hundreds of heavy boxes filled with breakable items packed into the container in no discernable order. By the time they get all the boxes onto the proper pallets, and then put the pallets away in the warehouse, they're ready for a break.

Our sales team has started calling customers that have porcelain back orders to let them know that we can fill their orders starting today. Now Arriving... Bistro Chairs

NES Reliable White Bistro ChairAnother day, another container. This time filled with about 2600 white NES Reliable Bistro Chairs. Again we have back-orders which we will be looking to fill, and we've been making phone calls to customers who are eagerly awaiting their new chairs. If you haven't heard from one of our sales reps and you have some chairs on back-order, give us a call. One of our sales reps would be more than happy to help you

This container is far and away the easiest container to unload. Our factory wraps four stacks of chairs together and then loads them onto the container using pallet jacks. That means that we can use our pallet jacks to take them off the container, which we did in about 90 minutes. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get the now-empty container picked up until much later in the day which made shipping difficult.

Unable to get a lot of orders out the door, our shipping and receiving team spent most of the day restacking the chairs so that they could fit into 8 foot trailers and checking for any defective chairs. We rarely see any bad chairs, but it's good to grab them before we ship them across the country.

We aren't anticipating any of our other containers to arrive this week, but we should be getting 2 or 3 containers next week, including a small container of porcelain. Porcelain is one of the few items where we don't fill the container to the roof with product. We tend to max out on weight when the porcelain is 3 to 4 feet high. Lots of small, heavy boxes, filled with fifty or sixty different products which are all intermixed makes for a long day for the shipping team.

Each container that arrives in our warehouse fills holes that have developed in our inventory. The party rental market is expanding. Caterers are expanding their offerings from food and drink to dishes and cutlery. Construction/Tool Rental companies are moving into tables and chairs to add to their extensive lines of rental products. BC Foodservice Expo 2011

BC Foodservice Expo

The BC Foodservice Expo was held in Vancouver this year on January 30 & 31, and National Event Supply was there! We met a lot of great people as we showed off our products.

Tradeshows are always a great way to "kick the tires" so to speak. At the BC Foodservice Expo, visitors to our booth got to touch and feel our dinnerware and flatware. They got a chance to sit in our chairs, and see how strong they really are. They also got a chance to meet Dennis, the president of National Event Supply, and talk to him about our company and about our products.
