How to assemble a Banquet Chair Dolly

When you receive your NES banquet chair dolly you will notice that there is minor assembly required (though it is less involved than the previously provided instructions for the NES Folding Chair Cart that we previously provided assembly instructions for). Below is a full run down of the pieces you should receive in your package as well as assembly instructions and tools that are required.

Banquet Chair Dolly

What you should receive:

  • (2x) Pneumatic (airless) or solid wheels (depending on your purchase selection)
  • (1x) Axle
  • (2x) Washers
  • (2x) Cotter Pins
  • (1x) Hand Truck Frame

Tools Required (not included):

  • Pliers
  • Rubber Mallet

Step 1:

Check to make sure you have all of your parts. The axle is typically taped to the hand truck frame with the cotter pins and washers on it.

Step 2:

Take 1 cotter pin out and take both washers off of axle.

Axle, Washers, and Cotter Pin

Step 3:

Put wheel on axle with the outside of the wheel against the cotter pin.

Step 4:

Place one washer on axle after the wheel. *Note: not all carts will require both or any washers; the washers simply fill the extra space to prevent the wheels from traveling too much on the axle. The banquet chair cart will still work effectively without them.*

Step 5:

Put axle on cart, hammer into place with a rubber mallet if required

Step 6:

Place second washer onto axle. Again the washer may not be required.

Step 7:

Put second wheel onto the axle.

Step 8:

Put cotter pin back into place, bend one end to hold in place. Second Wheel with Cotter Pin

Well done! Your cart is now complete! Enjoy the fruits of your labour by quickly and easily moving your banquet chairs.

How to Store Chiavari Chairs

Chiavari Chairs are beautiful additions to any event that needs an elegant boost to the décor. Rental companies, banquet halls, golf courses and hotels have been buying these chairs for years. One of the hardest part about investing in chiavari chairs is the size of storage space that they take up. Often companies will have to move to a bigger facility to begin inventorying these gorgeous event chairs. To help you figure out what way you wish to store these chairs, we’re compiled the three different ways (we know of) to store Chiavari chairs.

Stacked on the Ground:

90% of the companies we sell to use this method for storing Chiavari Chairs. Chiavari chairs are stacked on top of each other to a total of 6-9 chairs (depending on the height of the storage room / warehouse and how far you can reach to stack them) and then another stack started to create rows of Chiavari Chairs. To transport onto trucks, they would use a Chiavari chair dolly. Chiavari Chairs Stacked

Stacked & Wrapped on Skids:

The other way that we’ve seen chiavari chairs stored, and how we ship our chairs, is by stacking 6 stacks of six chairs per stack on a skid and then wrapping the skid to avoid any product shifting or falling. The benefits of this method is the skids can then be placed on warehouse racking using up more vertical space above the chairs. These skids could then be transported onto your delivery truck using a fork lift or pump truck.

In a Racking System:

Some more progressive party rental companies have been making their own racking systems to fit stacks of chiavari chairs onto racking and then use forklifts to transport the racking system directly to the trucks. We have only witnessed one company in particular who is investing in this – but it makes a lot of sense from an operations perspective.

Protecting Chiavari Chairs:

Another aspect of storing Chiavari chairs is ensuring that the chair’s paint doesn’t get harmed during storage. On the pictures above you can see we use Chiavari Chair Covers to protect our chairs for our customers. This could be a good option for party rental companies who want to reduce any dust getting on the chairs when they’re back in their warehouse.

How to Store Round Folding Tables

If you are a party rental company, a banquet hall or a hotel, chances are you have a number of round folding tables in your inventory. With the need for ample storage, one of the questions we often get asked is:

“How to Store Round Folding Tables”

There are four different ways to store round folding tables, with some dependent on storage space and how the folding banquet tables will be used. Check them out below:

Stored on Folding Table Racking

This type of round folding table storage is great when you have a warehouse, and want to minimize the amount of space your folding tables take up. Folding table racking can be stacked up to 3 racks high on top of one another, removed via a forklift and then wheeled (via swivel wheels) onto your truck. They hold 9-10 round folding tables.

Storing Round Folding Tables

Stored on Skids

If folding table racking isn’t for you, you can choose to buy skids and stack the tables on top of one another. We do this with our wood folding tables as they are manufactured and shipped to us without boxes. Generally, 4’ (48” round) folding tables we would stack no more than 20 tables high (we don’t stack any tables in our warehouse more than 20 tables high to avoid any damage), 5’ round folding tables we would stack 18-20 tables high and 6’ round folding tables we would stack 16 tables high. We stack them (wrapped in twos of tops touching tops) with table rails touching table rails. The tables can then be moved onto a truck (if need be) with a pallet truck.

Tables Stored on Skid

Stored on the Folding Table Edge

If you don’t plan to transport the tables very often, or don’t mind the extra labour involved, you can also store round folding tables on their sides (or edges as they are more often known). This type of storage ensures that the table doesn’t have any extra weight on it which prevents damage. It can be a bit more of a hassle as your employees would need to ensure they’re properly skidded for transport to events but this option doesn’t take up as much square footage as some of the other options.

Stored on Edge

Stored in a Round Table Cart

A Round Table Cart also known as a Round Table Dolly holds round folding tables on a maneuverable wheeled cart. With four locking swivel wheels, these carts generally can hold 4ft (48”), 5ft (60”), and/or 6ft (72”) round folding tables. The capacity of these carts vary in the size of the table but the general rule is 10 folding tables per cart.

Round Folding Table Cart

Since each method is a matter of personal preference we don’t tend to state whether we feel one option is better than the other. There are party rental companies who swear by folding table racks and those that swear by round table carts. It goes back to the wood vs. plastic folding table debate. We hope this post helped showcase the different options you have available to store your round folding tables so you can preserve your investment for years to come.

How to maintain Chiavari Chairs

NES Resin Chiavari ChairsAs the substantial portion of our customer base is comprised of party and event rental businesses, we understand the need to purchase products that allow for the most turns possible. Being able to continually rent out your products allows you a greater return on investment and more recurring revenue. Purchasing Chiavari Chairs is not a small investment to make, but a necessary one to cater to one of the more popular current event themes. Ensuring you are properly maintaining your investment will help ensure you can make the most of your inventory and increase the rental margins.

1) Purchase Chiavari Chairs based on the quality of the supplier.

Ensuring that the Chiavari Chairs you purchase are strong, durable and able to withstand a large load capacity will help safeguard your investment. Also, be wary of low cost Chiavari Chair suppliers – it seems cliché for me to say but many of our US competitors in particular have been known to push their manufacturing suppliers to cut the costs of their Chiavari Chair. Over time, this can only be done when shortcuts are made to the manufacturing process ultimately resulting in a reduction in the quality of the chairs over time.

2) As a Rental Company it makes sense for you to use Chiavari Chair Storage Covers to cover your chairs when not in use.

A banquet hall or hotel that uses Chiavari Chairs full time in their ballrooms generally do not need chair covers because there’s substantially less transportation and handling of the chairs which can cause wear and tear. Rental Businesses however, should consider using Chiavari Chair storage covers. Not only does this protective cover safeguard your chair during storage in the warehouse and transportation to and from events but it will greatly improve the aesthetic life of your chairs and reduce overall maintenance costs required to ensure your chairs are kept looking new. National Event Supply includes chiavari chair storage covers within the cost of their chair – but we also sell separately in case you bought from another supplier that didn’t include in your purchase.

3) Examine your Chiavari Chairs before every rental job.

Unfortunately due to the nature of the rental business, chairs can get scuffed up or scratched at an event – especially around the bottom of the legs. Wood Chiavari Chairs tend to show scratches more as the bare wood shows through once the coloured finish has been scratched. Scratches on Resin Chiavari chairs that have a similar colour to the exterior finish throughout the chair are less visible. That being said, touch ups can be performed on the chair by using a spray paint that matches with a clear top coat spray to help protect for future uses.

Hopefully this post will help make sure your Chiavari Chairs look like new for years to come.
